Re: Tetramorium Queens caught!

Right, but what do you do when they are in a test tube and they don't have 40-50 members? (Sorry, I'm a beginner) So, you can move your ants into a formicarium when they have 20-50 ants. During the test tube phase of their life, place the tube in an outworld with a barrier, and wedge a piece of dri...

For the bigger species like Camponotus I got some salt and pepper shakers from the dollar store with plastic lids to stop them from chewing through the cotton and escaping again (It was actually a big problem w...

Re: Can tetramoriam ants have more then one queen?

Please help me out. I am going to catch a queen this year and I want to know if they can have more than one queen. So, the simple answer is no. They will decapitate each other. I tried this with tetramorium, one 2 queen colony and one 4 queen colony. over a few days, one queen had decapitated the o...

HI there! I have a colony of tetramorium, several hundred strong. You can check my journal and see how long it took for each stage if you like!

Re: False Honeypot Ants/Queen Care. (Prenolepis imparis)

I know that it is preferably 20-50, but I heard on AntsCanada video that you can have a minimum of 10 workers if you want when moving them. I know that I saw that video as well, but the fact is that especially for this species, you want to give them the best possible chances. In general, just so yo...

Re: Queen Ant ID in PA, USA

looks like neoniger. This species often will not lay until after winter. They usually don't fly till September so... maybe she will lay before winter. I have raised two colonies of neonigers. So definitely don't throw her out if she doesn't lay. And she is fully claustral? That is a long time to wa...
