Re: Faster growing colonies

I’m looking for an ant species medium to large in size (over 3mm workers), with a fast colony grow rate (priority over size). Was planning to get carpenter ants but they reproduce quite slowly (up to 2 years to get a 20-50 colony). I’m planning to get local ants if possible (North Colorado, USA), s...

However, she is not light brown/orangiesh as prenolepis ants so I am wondering if they can also be black. Here is a clip of my queen ant. https://...

Re: ant barrier for small ants

I've found that my tetramorium could climb over baby powder and alchohol, but they cannot climb over straight baby powder, without rubbing alcohol.

Re: Need Help Identifying my ant!!!

Hi I need some help identifying my queen ant who I caught last September (2017) in Virginia, USA. I tried to hibernate my queen but she refused to hibernate for reasons that I do not know. I currently am keeping my queen ant in a warm room and she has begun laying eggs again. She seems to be semi c...

Re: Local Shop for Test Tubes?

This is the last, most likely silly question I have right now. Where would I go to find test tubes, just so I can have a handful ready before my order arrives? I'm not sure what stores to even look in. Would hobby or pet stores have them? A few options: Flower shops have water picks. They are like ...

Re: Messor Barbarus in Ireland?

Note that antmaps is not complete nor necessarily correct. I know many ant keepers like it, but I wouldn't use it to determine if your area has a specific species.
