Re: I'm new! My introduction! And my Ants! Featuring Ponera Pennsylvannica!

I actually tried that. I actually drained the water basin but due to it being built in I wasn't actually able to get her out. Her body hasn't moved. She's definitely dead unfortunately. Now I'm just trying to determine if I should leave her body in there or if I should cut open the mesh to get her ...

Well I found some males today and put them in the tube with her, but she the past half hour I've seen her playing with the tip of the gastris. Hope that was how to spell it. Thx antsRlife.
Take the males out. She will not mate in a test tube.

Re: I'm new! My introduction! And my Ants! Featuring Ponera Pennsylvannica!

Unfortunately, it was not properly designed and there was a small crevice in the rock that my Ponera P. was able to get into. This crevice unfortunate...

I have had to use things like rags or towels since they keep the tubes the darkest, but they are kind of large and innef...

Re: My first queen doing well.

I have a lasius neoniger colony that has 25 + workers, and sometimes they spins cocoons (using the cotton as a substrate) a...
