Note that antmaps is not complete nor necessarily correct. I know many ant keepers like it, but I wouldn't use it to determine if your area has a specific species.

looks like neoniger. If it was caught in the fall, then it probably is. Yes, I have raised two colonies of them and they do not lay eggs until after hibernation. you also can't speed this up by skipping hibernation. egg to worker time is roughly a month The gaster doesn't really look like Lasius ne...
