Re: ant food substitutes?

Workers/nantics only eat sugars for themselves. Honey, sugar water, some fruits ect. You get the point. When you see them on protein its either to feed larva or the queen. If that is what you meant then just try a tiny piece of cooked chicken or such. I have a colony that loves Costco rotisserie chi...

Re: C. pennsylvanicus food suggestions

Best thing you can do is feed them a variety of stuff. Sometime I give mine cooked chicken organic cat food, minced meat. Be creative and careful.

Re: Solenopsis fugax

If they died that fast, I would say they were possibly males. Queens usually have some reserves. Even semi claustrial ones. They will live longer. Males tend to die right off. Even workers tend to live longer.

Re: test-tube question

Wow not the right question.

Try to be more specific. I know you aren't the best at English but some ants will do well in a very small test tube and some need a larger one.

90% of queens will do great in 15 mm by 150 mm test tube.

Does that help?

Be creative and think things through before you test them on your colony. Remember every time you fail it's an opportunity to learn.
