Please help identify Utah ant
I found 2 of these. One about 9:30 am and one at 7:00 pm. I'm a little curious because I first thought they were velvet ants. They are pretty clumsy and have a difficult time righting themselves after they are on their backs. They can't do it on glass. They don't climb well. Date : August 10 Locatio...

A queen very similar found me as I was waiting for a table at The Crazy Norwegians restaurant in Port Orford, Oregon on July 14th. In my efforts to identify it I would agree with Batspiderfish and would add Stenamma diecki. This is because the petiole shape and the dark brown almost black color. You...

I know, right? Here is a photo of the nanitics of a dead queen that were accepted by the new queen and her nanitics. The dead queens nanitics are smaller and lighter colored. Try merging them with the other colony. The brood at least will be accepted. I've had it work before with a queen that died.

Is anyone in Utah finding queens right now? I've seen some late Tetramorium but few to none other species. I believe Pogonomyrmex will be flying soon.
