Re: Food coloring help

They decided to stick some molded cotton and their mealworm from last night onto the drop of honey. I used a drop of honey with a diameter of about 1.5 cm and put 1 drop of food coloring. I mixed it in a shot glass and dipped a toothpick in the drop and used what was on the toothpick to feed my ants...

Re: Food Removal/Decay

You can't. If you don't want them to put their trash there, you have to block off all chambers except their main one so they are forced to put all the trash in the foraging area. I don't know what you would do with the roach that's already there though.

Food coloring help

I have my ants a drop of honey with green food coloring. When the workers touched the honey, they freaked out and jumped backwards. They are totally avoiding it and they were like doing this weird dance where they stood on their hind legs and moved their antennae really fast. The two ants that went ...

Queen Expedition

Gonna start writing down my queen expeditions cause it's pretty interesting. I went to a place where Brian L. Fisher told me to go to in the Bay Area to look for queens. I saw tons of cool ants that I've never seen in the suburbs like Camponotus sp, Formica ravida, some huge red ants, etc. I saw wha...

Sorry to break it to you, but that's Tetramorium lol
Are you sure? She has a distinct spike on her petiole.

Re: Newbie Conversation

Honestly you don't have to look for queen ants they find you it's all about patience, that is what I learned when a camponotus queen appeared in my bathroom :/ Exactly this. I waited patiently for almost a year before a Camponotus queen presented itself at eye level as I was walking out of the show...

Re: Hybrid Nest

Not anymore. They're going to start making them soon. But they're going to replace the small ones with only one nest that suits all species.

I really really would like an ant farm. But I can't wait for queens to appear in front of me. It might be too long. I am too excited and can't start looking after an ant colony. I dtarted becoming interested after watching AntsCanada's video one day
Have you looked yet?

Re: Newbie Conversation

1. The holes would not be standard(size) 2. The connection tubes might be too big or small 3. The holes might have jagged edges for ants to escape The only out worlds that come with holes are the ones AntsCanada and Tarheel Ants sells, and those cost 50 - 100$. Anything else you'd have to drill hol...
