And your queen is of the Lasius genus, but you should get a professional to ID the queen's species

The queen isn't semi-claustral so don't feed anymore honey. How can you tell if the queen is semi-claustral?Is there some distinct mark or shape on their bodies? It would really help me narrow down future species of ants I find. Still unsure of the species as well. But the workers have yet to hatch...

Okay, so I put my colony in the garage where it's a lot cooler, but not too cold. All of the ants including the major and minor now are acting as if nothing happened. I think because my room is the hottest in the house (76F), it was too hot for them coming right out of hibernation.

Update: (Feb 17, 2018) After about 3 months, I finally took my Camponotus hyatti colony out of hibernation. I counted and they have about 31 workers. They have a very large amount of larvae, so I'm excited to see their growth this year. I gave them a drop of honey in their foraging area but none ha...

I just realized you're from Australia. I'm not good with ants that are not from North America, but I think you may be right with Iridomyrmex.

Lol, it's okay. I recommend you watch all of the AntsCanada tutorial videos. This is how I started out. Then if you want to do deeper research, you have the entire internet at your disposal.
