Hello! Would Rice work?

Hey everyone i've been gone for a while and i caught a pogonomyrmex badius queen while walking around in my yard. i'm wondering if i can feed her some rice because some people told me that she still forages around before she makes her founding chamber. And also would rice work for feeding the colony...

I have only really heard of this working out in the desert. It's better to just find a queen above ground. my yard is sand so im close enough The ants in your area are not desert ants, and would not create distinct founding chambers like in the desert.
