Re: Crematogaster digging into blue sponge

Hi omally, There is a small piece of stainless steel mesh that is supposed to prevent ants from getting into the hydration chambers. With very small species, it has been known to not work as well as they can sometimes find ways around the mesh. The mesh is not a perfect fit sometimes. You may want t...

Re: Very upset with omni nest

Hi AntHUB. We are sorry you've had a poor experience with your Omni Nest. I'll address your concerns here: 1. The covers are easily lost and hard to see. Are you talking about the brown paper covers that were stuck to the acrylic?? The brown paper covers are supposed to be removed and then discarded...

Re: More hybrid nests

Three of the more popular ones (Lasius, Tetramorium, and Camponotus) are already in the works. In the end, it has to come down to a business decision though.Would there...

Re: holes in a holes

The Omni Small has one connection point for tubing. From there you can branch off using tubing connectors. There is also a separate connection point built specifically for the outworld that comes with it. It is used if you choose to connect the outworld directly to the top of the Omni Small via scre...

Re: 3D Ant Nests

What if you made it modular Yeah the "small building blocks" I mentioned in my earlier post would be a modular approach. We could design a dozen or more different shapes/angles of interlocking tubing and several chamber options with 1-4 interlocking ports and then let people just create their own. ...

Re: 3D Ant Nests

Some of our ideas for making something like this work fit into the category of a "do it yourself" project. I think these ideas are great and would be fun to do on an individual basis, but making something like this to sell to other people may prove to be too problematic.

Re: 3D Ant Nests

I think he means like take a metal cast of an actual nest and then turn that into an acrylic nest. Think like these but clear and hollow. I think it would be kind of cool, but hydration would be difficult. https://www.buzzfeed.com/roamingrosie/6-aluminum-anthill-art-sculptures-that-will-blow-y-h90i...

Watch out for small species though, they my escape through the hydration holes. To prevent this use a little bit of cotton to plug up th excess space.

Re: What if nobody wants my Ants?!?!

You can just release them. Find a suitable place around your house, neighborhood, etc., and set the test tube on the ground. They will eventually move out.
