Speaking of, how do you hydrate the omni? It doesn't look like it has any hydration medium.
Yes Omni's use the thick blue sponge material as hydration medium. Water will typically need to be added a little more frequently to an Omni setup than a Hybrid setup.

Re: Omni or hybrid?

Hey guys, I have 2 queens laying now and was wondering if I should go for the specific hybrid nests or just get 2 omni smalls. What are your thoughts if you have used one or both of them? Omni Nests provide better observation. Hybrid have better hydration and connectivity with other AC gear. There ...

Re: Questions re. starting a colony in an Omni Nest

Now that I've had some help from the folks in the species ID forum, I know for sure the first colony going in will be a Formica species - Batspiderfish thought probably podzolica. I also have a Camponotus novaeboracensis queen but I think when she needs a formicarium I might get the hybrid nest for...

Re: ooper's Tetramorium sp. E colony -- not Monomorium minimum (#6)

How are they doing? Thanks for asking. I need to upload some new pics and or video of this colony. They are doing quite well! I would estimate the colony size to be 2,000 to 3,000 strong. Their setup consists of a Hybrid large (6" x 6") and a prototype of our new Hybrid large (8" x 8") along with o...

Re: Hybrid nest shipping takes too long

Also, Hybrid Nests have been shipping a little sooner than 5-6 weeks. The past month or so they have been going out in 2-3 weeks.

Re: ooper's Pogonomyrmex occidentalis colony (#1)

Hey Ooper, Awesome log! So much great info. You mention after the test tube hibernation, you moved this queen and her few workers into a small formicarium. What was that set up like for such a small colony? If I remember right, I had one of Tar Heel Ants' formicaria that I had purchased to test and...

Re: Question on tubing

Ok so I recently ordered my hybrid nest and was wondering if it will come with some connector tuning. I don't have any tuning that is clear and I need a way to connect it to my out world( homemade) When you buy just a Hybrid nest (not the All You Need Pack), it comes with a bag of Perlite to put in...

Re: When is the new hybrid nest coming out?

Could we get the latest update on the new hybrid nests? And also in another post something was said about a new more affordable out world...can you possibly shed some light on that subject as well? Thanks for your time guys. We are putting the finishing touches on the new Formica Hybrid Nest. The o...
