Re: Weird Question about Fire ants

Yeah, I figure they moved to that area because we've been getting rains every day. Ugh, that's unfortunate :( I guess the search for one of the entrances is on. Thanks for the help ya'll Seal off areas where they could enter, and put Vaseline or PTFE around the mailbox near entrances, so they slip....

How long does it take for a Camponotus Pennsylvanicus to go from egg to worker? I read it takes 3 weeks for each stage of growth but im not sure if thats true or not
About two months on average. It varies though.
Might go faster after you stop getting nanitics, and get normal workers.

Tetramorium can found with multiple queens but in the end there can only be one.
Should i separate them?
Yes definitely! I've had trash luck finding queens. I keep going on vacation and missing them :( 2 years and I've missed all the queens I've wanted. Going to 3...

Yeah, but I think it's a ton easier to feed them outside of the tube. It's alot more like what they would do in the wild.
Same. And they forage A LOT. They've taken sand into the tube as well. So I'll suspect they're happy :)
They're favorites foods are cricket legs and sugar water.

Re: Tapinoma sessile Journal

http://i.imgur.com/mxJZe8f.jpg My Tapinoma sessile are doing great. Unfortunately, there has been a very bad accident. A loss of 5 workers might not seem to be a problem, but in a colony this small, 5 workers means the world. This accident was entirely my fault. The substrate I gave them is not goo...

Nylanderia cf. flavipes

My queen which I think is Nylanderia cf. flavipes just got 7 workers. I gave them an outworld, but fed them sugar water before hand anyway. I left some wet cat food and more sugar water in their outworld, as well as a crushed sunflower seed, but aren't seeing any activity. Is this because I fed them...

Re: Am I too late?

Here is a trick that I found works extremely well. We have an above ground pool at our house (Toddler size) and every time I go to check there is at least one queen in there. There are always queens in the water that are more than likely not drowned because ants are fairly hardy when it comes to dr...

Re: What do I do?!

On a happier note, this queen I haven't checked on in a few weeks just got 7 nanitics! They're feeding on sugar water. If all fails, they're my back up.

What do I do?!

After I returned from vacation, I now have 1 instead of 2 nanitics. I don't know what to do. I'm worried they're dying :( Do they need more protein?
