(question) difference between baby powder with water / alcohol
Hi, Recently, I noticed that my ant farm's previous layer of baby powder (applied by previous owner) had begun to wear off, so I applied a new layer with baby powder and water, and only realised that alcohol was recommended after I was done. Is there any functional difference between baby powder wit...

(question) how to keep ghost ants out of ant farm
Hi, A few months ago, I received a carpenter ant colony from one of my friends after they wanted to release it. Recently, ghost ants have started to invade the area, and I have spotted dismembered carpenter ants in the ant farm. I have identified the place that the ghost ants are able to fit through...

Queen ant identification
Hi,
I recently found a queen ant in Singapore at around 9 pm.
She is around 17 mm long from head to tip of wing.
Can someone please help me identify the species of it, and if possible, if it is semi-claustral? Thanks!

How to get ants closer to nest entrance
Hi,
I was recently given a Camponotus ant colony in a formicarium with tunnels in glass by somebody. For some reason, their population has shrunk, and now they do not go near to the only nest entrance.
Is there any way to get them closer to the entrance so I can offer them food easily?
Thanks!

Re: Alternative sources of protein
Hi, I am preparing to start a colony (I haven't caught a queen yet) and I've been looking for sources of protein. I can't get feeder insects like mealworms/crickets/cockroaches. Is it possible for ants to eat other pests like weevils? I collected a few and tried feeding them to a wild colony but th...

Question about nuptial flights in Southeast Asia
Hi,
Are there any commonly spotted ants having nuptial flights in the Southeast Asia region around June, and if so what are the times of the day they most often come out?
Thanks!
