Re: Possible Camponotus vicinus??

Camponotus vicinus is common in North America from about the central portions to the west. However, I don't believe that the ant in the photo is vicinus. 5 mm is too small.

Re: Hoping for ID's for 2 queens

Vicinus for the #2 queen seems reasonable, although she seems more slender and lighter in the body than the last one I had. Hoping for ID's for 2 queens

Queen # 1 is 13 mm, found in Southern BC about 3 weeks ago. I thought she was C. modoc, but she is a bit small and looks different from my other modoc colonies. Her head is enormous but her gaster is smaller and more round in shape. https://imgur.com/O2PTCzu https://imgur.com/s6XfyAw Queen #2 is 15 ...

Re: Ant Queen ID

Sometimes a drop of honey on a piece of tin foil helps them settle.

Re: Need help identifying

If they survive they will do entirely too well. Their colonies are amazingly fast growing and easy to get out of control. The queens pretty much lay around the clock.
