Re: Web Domain Leading Away From AC Website

The New (this one) AntsCanada Forums transitioned to the same server that the store is on now about 3 weeks ago so that may have been an old link that wasn't killed completely. Also there use to be a old AntsCanada Forum that Mikey had that was long and gone when I talked him into reopening a new on...

Re: Ant Carbs?

Ok what my ants (Solenopsis) like and I feed them is crickets, sugar water, and it may sound funny but the white kitkat mini's. LOL I'll give them one of those and they will eat the white chocolate and the wafers too, kinda funny watching them tunnel thru it. So they get their proteins, sugars, and ...

Re: RIFA question about majors

About how long will it take for my RIFA colony to get majors? More like a couple of hundred or more. To raise a "Major" or larger fire ant pupa it takes a lot of food, energy, and time compared to their smaller sisters. The colony has to be well established to the point that they can dedicate the r...

Re: The start of 2017

Yea last year I caught and kept over 100 queens. My advice it catch a couple more then you plan to have as colonies and that's it. There is always the chance you may get a infertile queen or one may die off so the extra 1 or two can make up for that. As of now I have 10 Solenopsis queens that have l...

Re: Fire Ant Barriers

Ok well beings I keep fire ants I'll throw in my two cents! #1 Fireants are escape artist! IF there is a crack these little girls will find it!!! #2 I have tried vaseline, tape, and a few other things but the most effective I've found is baby powder/ rubbing alcohol mix and make a 1 inch strip aroun...

Re: New Out World

Thanks. Diamond bits work best on glass. Also you can take it by a glass shop and they can cut the holes for you and you don't have to worry about buying the bit and taking a chance on cracking or breaking the glass.

New Out World

So it was about time to build a new out world for my larger Solenopsis colony. Stopped by Hobby Lobby and Lowe's and picked up a few things. Was considering getting some plastic plants and such but I wanted to keep it basic and also I'll be doing a 55gal aquarium nest/outworld later and that's when ...

Solenopsis Queen shedding her wings

So I've collected many many many Queens before after a nuptial flight most with out wings and a few with wings but I've never come across the process of a Queen shedding her wings. Came across this Solenopsis Queen shedding her wings and though I would share it with you all.
