Re: Camponotus pennsylvanicus and friends

Wow! Amazing photography! That's some luck with those cameras.

Honestly, I've been waiting eagerly for your "lineup" for highlighting local diversity this year.

Re: Do Solenopsis Sp eat bees?

I'm not trying to be rude, but the abbreviations like "sp." and "spp." refer to a "species" and "hybrid species"(?) or a "species complex" respectively. They are not actual species, but used when a species is not assigned to an identification.

Unless it is not from the Eastern half of North America.

Re: RIP Crematogaster sp.

That should work. Don't heat the entire tube, though. Only a small section of it.

Re: Do Solenopsis Sp eat bees?

That doesn't tell anything. Thief ants like Solenopsis molesta take a very short time from egg to worker. Larger species like S. invicta or S. geminata take around one to one and a half months.

This is Camponotus pennsylvanicus or something from the Myrmetoma subgenus.

Double check the measurements.

I meant for the ants; what species are they?

Ants can be scavengers. They should be able to eat the bee.

Which species?
Honey bees
