Addition to my animal family!

Most (if not all) of you do not know this, but my black and white pure bred Siberian husky named gaja had puppies exactly 8 weeks ago today. She had roughly a 1/4 chance to get a red husky (her and her partner both had red fathers.) she had 5 black and white puppies in about 3 hours, then there was ...

Re: Theantguy13's Ant journal

I now have about 20 Solenopsis xyloni queens after 2 big nuptial flights. 1 queen is infertile for sure, 1 has a moldy test tube, and my first one this season has had larvae for 3 days now. The Pogonomyrmex are doing great and the one in the experimental setup dug a claustral cell about 2 times her ...

I w...

Re: Dead queen, questions

I don't know much about brood boosting, or even worker boosting. From what I've heard, under very specific circumstances should you ever give already eclosed workers to an established colony. I really don't recommend it, as it could lead to their demise. As for the "dead" queen, she could still be a...

Re: Theantguy13's Ant journal

Just want to make an update since it has been awhile. My Solenopsis Xyloni queens are doing great, except for one which has a moldy tube and is spreading her eggs all over the place. I decided to keep my Brachymyrmex Patagonicus queen, just to see how it goes, she has not laid a single egg... :( My ...
