Re: Colorado Nupital Flights

Haven't been on here in a while, glad so many people are having success! I caught 10 Pogonomyrmex Occidentalis just over a month ago, two queens have their first nanitics, and one queen had eaten her eggs but has luckily just started laying new eggs this past week. Also, one queen has passed away le...

Re: July 15, 2017, Longmont, Colorado id help

I have a couple Pogonomyrmex myself, and have been trying to get a solid ID for a while now with no luck. As of right now, I think mine are Occidentalis, and I believe yours probably are, too. Apparently, the most common types in CO are P. Occidentalis and P. Rugosus. P. Rugosus has a lighter-color...

July 15, 2017, Longmont, Colorado id help

http://imgur.com/a/S8jhi Caught her on July 15, 2017, in Longmont, Colorado. She's a Pogonomyrmex as far as I can tell but can't figure out the species. She is about 10-12mm long, almost always has the end of her abdomen facing straight down, and her wing scars look black. I think she's semi-claust...

Colorado possible queen

little over 1cm, Longmont, Colorado.
She seems bigger than most of the workers in my area and has a different shape. I can't tell if she's a queen or not tho.

Re: Colorado Nupital Flights

I haven't had any luck. I'm hoping I'll atleast see singns of nuptuial flights happening since it'll be the first warm day after a while of cold rainy days. How did you get your tetremorium colony? I got into the hobby late last year and was too impatient to wait, so I got the queen with about 7 wo...
