Formica do not keep any brood over the winter, so they will not begin/resume laying until the spring. Lasius neoniger queens overwinter before laying eggs. Yup! All Brachymyrmex queens are small.

Formica do not keep brood over the winter. There won't be any eggs until next spring. Ants typically do not require heating.

Oops depilis - without hair
B. depilis is the only species from the genus which lives that far north.
