General tips for keeping pheidole
Hello, I caught 6 queens a few days ago and they already have 50+ eggs. The colony is gonna grow really fast and I was just wondering if any of you have any tips for keeping Pheidole that live in temperate regions in cali. Any advice helps, Thanks.

found 6 pheidole spp. within two days yesterday. It seems they fly on just one to two days.

First off, you're gonna need to post a picture, the best way is to post a url. Also queens may pull at the cotton for the first few days, just make sure the cotton is on tight and put her test tube in a dark place that doesn't experience vibration.

Thank you so much! Is this species fully claustal? yeah it is. you can tell if a species is claustral or not from the gaster/head. Claustral species have large gasters and small heads because all they do is sit in a hole, while semi claustral species have smaller gasters and bigger heads with mean ...

im pretty sure the queen is prenelopis emperous(i dont know how to spell) or the winter ant. I had one a long time ago, looks exactly like it.

That is definetly a queen. I am not an expert but im pretty sure thats pheidole sp. I live in California too and I caught some yesterday.
