They shouldn't, go to youtube and watch AntsCanada's vids. There is one about this topic, the eggs and brood have the same "antifreeze" as the adult ants so they should not die. If they do your queen will lay more eggs next spring.

From what I have read and heard from AntsCanada youtube, every stage of an ants life cycle will hibernate. I live in Tx and I wait till I see no more ants outside and then I remove the heat cable and placemy colony as close to a window as I can in a room I dont use much and they hibernate that way. ...

If u put the test tube in an outworld and presetup the outworld so its ready to connect to a formacarium they can forge for food and when u add the formacarium they will find it and move in on their own. I put my queens in an outworld as soon as the have a few workers.

Congratulations on that find. I love my Crematogaster colony, they dont sting or bite, but they are escape artists so make sure u use a good barrier. Or u can put them in an out world. Thats the easy way to do it. Then u dont have to worry about escapes just make sure u put some sort of barrier along the top.

I have a Crematogaster collony and I love them. They are great escape artist, but what I love about them is that they dont sting me and they dont hurt when they bite u :-) they do make a strange smell when u agitate them. Mine is 2 urs old and already making Queen and King elates.

Comp queen wilm be large but I found a small comp queen not to long ago, just remember to look for wing muscles, the queen will have a larger thorax, and b\c of the size of the queen you usely can see the wing scars. Good luck finding ur queen.
