good info.. and thanks. honestly i have a hard time discerning the species. im going to try to collect some workers and brood from around where i found her and see if that helps. she was id as Lasius aphidicolus

social parasite attempt
Hello.. with help from you guys 1 of my 2 queens i found this summer was identified as a Lasius parasite species. im a newcomer to ant keeping and am asking do you think i should attempt a host colony introduction to get her started producing eggs. i started feeding my young colony last week. i dip the worm in boiling water for a second or two. it seems to die instantly. then i cut it up and for now only give them a segment or two. today they reacted well to the meal.

i honestly dont know. i believe she is Tetramorium or pheidole. I was going to compare her with another queen i caught which i've put pics of on the forum. The second queen is either tetramorium or Lasius. IShe has yet to produce eggs so i am just hoping she is a queen as of now..llol. My queen who ...
