Re: My queen has abandoned her eggs. Help.

I noticed people were back here. What I ended up doing to get rid of the mold, or try to anyway, was simply moving the queen to a fresh setup. The process is on youtube in a few places, but basically, you connect a fresh test tube that has already been set up for ant living to the old test tube usin...

Backyard Nuptial Flight Queens

Hi all! Been a while, but I finally have the chance to raise new colonies after my last ones busted. Attached here is the image of the ants I found having their nuptial flight right in my backyard! I wanted to be sure of what species they were before I went too far along and lost them again due to w...

Re: My queen has abandoned her eggs. Help.

Oh my gosh she is perfect XD She is absolutely beautiful! Your coworker has so real talent! I wish I had that much skill. But yeah the greatest news came yesterday, went to check on the queens who had laid, baby ants are hatching :3 they are so small but mom is carrying them around to help them drin...

Re: My queen has abandoned her eggs. Help.

Yeah, still a bummer, though. :/ I feel like all of the help thus far was in vain, first with the not laying, then with the abandoning of eggs, and now we have ant death on the table. Victoria was drama, lots of drama. Drama mama. Anyways! I now have five queens laying, but one of the five ate her e...

Re: My queen has abandoned her eggs. Help.

Sad thing is there are so many ways to treat fungus, I just would have had to find the right solution for her. If only I had known. At least if it happens with my new queens I'll definately be ready for it!

Re: My queen has abandoned her eggs. Help.

It is confirmed, Victoria is dead. And as an added bonus, I know what killed her now. Only a day after I wrote, fungus was using her body as a garden! She had a fungal infection :(

Re: My queen has abandoned her eggs. Help.

I just went to check on her after her bath (she had moved her antennae once, and now there is no movement at all, not even in contact with light. I think she might be gone :( Also! I am now preeeeetty sure my ant girls are tetramorium sp.e. And since four queens are now laying eggs, anyone happen to...

Re: My queen has abandoned her eggs. Help.

I will have to give this a try, anything to try and help even a little bit. Also I'm sorry to hear about that and I wish you luck with your new queens! I also decided to try and be smart, last night I took the two remaining males and am now cycling them through the test tubes of queens without eggs,...

Re: My queen has abandoned her eggs. Help.

I'm pretty sure I have Lasius niger queens as well, which is why I asked you since you also have lasius niger. I can send pictures if you want as I am proud of my haul from work :) (10 queens, three perished, so now I have seven queens and two live males that have survived a week now, yay me). As fo...

Re: My queen has abandoned her eggs. Help.

I got it from a local store, it was a small spray bottle for travel size, but I modified it to be able to connect the test tube. Nothing was inside as it was an empty bottle, and as such I never really cleaned it out since yes it was new, and it had no dust on it anywhere. The water was clean bottle...
