Re: Hybrid nest worker amount
Thanks! They are currently in the test tube setup with a portal slowly growing their colony. They should reach this point before hibernation time so I will purchase the hybrid nest this summer!

Re: Our first Queen - ID Help please!
Now I am a fairly new ant keeper, but I’d identify that as a camponotus (possibly pennsylvanicus) or formica (possibly fusca)
However I would seek advice from some more experienced ant keepers first! Congrats on starting up an amazing hobby with you son that can teach him many great lessons!

Pheidole in NY?
I have always wanted to keep pheidole ants and I know that they fly between June and July so I figured now is the time to look but just how common are they in New York or other Northeastern U.S. states?

Important questions about sugar sources!
I have currently been feeding my founding Tetramorium colony small pieces of organic strawberries as a sugar source. I have been curious about switching to organic honey but I don’t know what kind of honey, such as raw or preceded organic honey my ants would need. I’ve also wanted to try a test tube...

Re: Raw honey, bad for ants?
So what type of organic honey are you suggesting? I have been using organic strawberries and my ants go crazy for them, or would you recommend a switch to honey or sugar water every once and a while? I was also wondering if I connect my ants to a test tube of sugar water, would they also be able to ...

I too live near Syracuse and haven’t seen any queens whatsoever this season! All the methods that I used to catch 10s of queens last year are working this year!!! Any tips on how you or your friend found theirs this year?

No nuptial flights yet this year!!!
I like in New York and I haven’t spotted a single de-alate on the ground. It’s been very quiet this season and I was wondering if anyone is having the same issue!?
