Re: Central Texas - late March
I am in southeast Texas and was having some of that very same magic mid march. Big girl does look like a Solenopsis invicta the smaller one is probably a male, but the head looks too big compared to the ones I have around here. Don't let the wings = unfertilized myth fool you. Its generally true, bu...

Re: Feeding Pachycondyla Queen
I thought most people were feeding pre-killed rather than live.....
The rolly was because i read some Pachy's were isopod specialists.
I threw in the smallest superworm I had, she showed no interest and it just crawled away from her.

Feeding Pachycondyla Queen
I made the following setup for my Pachycondyla . She seems happy and has lost her wings. I included a test tube/water setup covered to be dark. Soil and a rock to hid under. There is an additional small cap of water and of honey. I have no experience with semi-claustral ants. She is very active. I a...

Pachycondyla harpax Bellaire TX 3/25/20
Beautiful girl, BIG Girl. Every bit of 12 mm. Pretty sure she is a Pachycondyla but please correct me. I am assuming being from Texas would make her a harpax but that is mostly a guess. It was a very windy day and she flew through the parked car window and hit me right in the chest. My girls and I t...

Re: Pseudomyrmex gracilis
I did have the formicarium attached to the out-world, however I removed it to cover it and to create some distance between the formicarium and the outworld. I could reattach it but that does not give them much room to move around. Like Antman said, they are a species that needs a lot of space. Where...

Pseudomyrmex gracilis
I have an established colony of Psudomyrmex gracilis . They are currently residing in an omninest and nesting in the outworld. I would really like them to relocate into the formicarium portion, at least so I can clean their outworld. Any suggestions? http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e134/Tethiner/2...

Re: Houston Texas MAY 15
My wife informed me I am not a time traveler.
It was May 15th. Just this last Tuesday. I am not sure how to edit the title.
