6-they didn't seem very interested in my fruit flies, and my Ponera colony loves them.

I actually think that she's Stigmatomma (dracula ants). I'll continue her journal on the topic Dracula ants in South Dakota?

I fed them 10 or 15 fruit files, and they took to them instantly. I haven't got to buying fruit flies until recently, so I haven't had anything to feed them since then. I'll bet that they'll start laying eggs now that they are feasting like queens! :lol:

I will try an experiment. Once winter comes around, I will connect the 2 colonies together, and block the entrance to the other colony's nest with cotton. When spring comes, the 2 colonies will develop the same pheromone id and then I will unblock the tube to the other nest. The queens will be confi...

I caught another C. pennsylvanicus queen a few days ago, and she is in a test tube setup. I hope she's mated too!

I found a queen in her claustral cell that I believe is Stigmatomma pallipes. Is there any special care she needs?

Tetramorium queens

I caught 3 Tetramorium cf. immigrans queens! I once heard that Tetramorium caespitum are possibly polygynous, so I put them together. They never fought, they just huddled in a big group and touched antennae. Working on pictures.
