Re: Found this queen in WA, Aus! PLEASE IDENTIFY!!!

1 - Rainbow Ant (When in sun light they glow a purply green.)

2 - Just a regular sized test tube is fine, not to gigantic, not to small. (16 mm and above is fine)

3 - Theses ant have 2 - 3 nuptial flights a year. 1 in the beginning of spring, 1 in mid December, and 1 early March.

Re: My ants dont eat sugar!!

Alright, firstly, get them into a test tube! Here is a tutorial on that!

Secondly, feed them really small drops of honey, preferably raw. If not, a small fresh piece of fruit would do well to.

Hopefully that helps.

Re: Found this queen in WA, Aus! PLEASE IDENTIFY!!!

It is is the genus Iridomyrmex. I am thinking that the species is Bicknelli, but I am not sure, as 17 mm is rather large for Iridomyrmex Bicknelli. Can you take a photo with a ruler beside?

Hitch3’s Melophorus sp. Journal

Hi all! So recently I was digging out holes for fence posts with my mother. She pulled out a chunk of dirt and layed it gently on the ground so I could examine the dirt for any ants or queens. Well low and behold, one of them has a whole colony inside! I desperately picked up the ants that I could w...

Re: Hitch3’s Rhytidoponera Metallica Journal

Hi all, Sorry for not updating in ages. The colony is doing well! One of the larvae pupated and the queen layed 6 more eggs. I would put the current brood count at about: Workers 1 Pupae 1 Larave 2 Eggs 6 I have no pictures of the colony today, but I do haves picture of some pupae from a established...
